As you look around our village, we hope to delight you with your favorite pleasures of any Faire-day… and something new, as well. We’ve created some special and unique attractions, and we’d like to share them with you!

We’ve always been fascinated by the bards of ancient England, Ireland, and Wales–those extraordinarily talented individuals whose song and story and words struck fire in the hearts and minds of all who met them.

It took at least twelve years of learning to become a bard–after many years of training as a student beforehand. Bards memorized hundreds of the Great Stories, dozens and dozens of songs and sagas, the secret tree language of Ogham, the genealogies of kings and noble lives.

In our own small way, we seek to bring you a piece of that glorious experience. And what’s more–if you are of creative bent and would like to share, we offer you a chance to take up the bardic challenge and set inspiration alight in others!

Come see the bards of our own humble shire take on the famed Merridwyn, that wild man of the woods who will, in later history, be called “Merlin”. Watch their combats of wordplay, storytelling, music, wit, skill, and cunning. This is NOT a scripted battle; see them-quick-thinkingly spin lore from their minds, create worlds before your eyes, each seeking to outdo the others’ prowess of mind and knowledge and ability. Witness bardic creation, right in front of you!

What use is a Contest of the Wise if there’s no contest of Fools to balance it?

(“Plenty”, we’re told, but the Fools want to do this anyway.)

See our motley jesters come jest and trade amongst themselves foolish things, games, pratfalls and cartwheels to make you laugh and cheer and possibly wish you were allowed to throw ripe tomatoes at them.

Do you wish to tell your own tale, sing a song, or show us some skill or talent which will delight and inspire? Join our Bardic Circle! For a nominal fee, you can gather ‘round a circle of comrades and new friends and share talents, as we go ‘round the circle and learn what performance or wisdom each can offer. ‘Tis led by our own Master Bard, the mighty Daniel Greenwolf (see: Resident Bard)! Share a circle’s stage with our famed entertainer and dazzle the assemblage with your abilities.

In Norse times, it was often customary to hold ceremony in the mead-hall of the Chief in a series of ritual toasts. For a nominal fee, join us in this ceremony both solemn and boisterous!

Our resident bard is none other than the nationally-famed Daniel Greenwolf! His extraordinary skills and presence have made him legendary. Plus, there’s always the chance that he might do something really stupid onstage, and that would be extremely funny.

His magical talents have been seen by thousands – but fewer have seen him in the role we give to him, as Chief Bard and Lord of the Bardic Circle. Take this rare opportunity to interact with a world-class illusionist and a skald in the finest tradition!
